Description: The Washington Conservatory of Music is a nationally accredited community music school. Founded in 1984, WCM is dedicated to fostering the joy of music and guiding students of all ages and all levels to reach their personal musical potential. The Conservatory maintains two teaching sites: at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church in Bethesda and in the South Arcade of Glen Echo Park. Students of all ages and levels may study without audition under the guidance of WCM's international artist-faculty. Lessons are offered on piano, guitar, all strings, voice, all brass, jazz piano, improvisation, drums, percussion, conducting, and all woodwind instruments. Classes in music theory, music appreciation, group guitar, and Early Childhood music are also offered, among others. Ensembles include Jazz, Rock, Pop, World, and Classical music. WCM offers various summer music camps for children and teens. The Conservatory sponsors a free community orchestra for amateur adult musicians that meets weekly throughout the year. Additionally, WCM presents a series of free professional concerts at Westmoreland Circle. Since 1998, over 150 concerts have been presented by the Conservatory to the Greater Bethesda and DC community.
